WEIR:LIVE

Producer & Curator | Capital&Centric

A new neighbourhood needed a proper introduction to Stockport. Not a corporate launch. A party.

Capital&Centric brought Laura in to produce and co-curate WEIR:LIVE, the launch celebration for its newly opened Weir Mill neighbourhood, an incredible restored former cotton mill sitting under Stockport’s iconic viaduct.

The brief was pretty open: create something that would bring people into the space and make Weir Mill feel part of Stockport from day one.

So Laura’s starting point in curating the event was to Keep it local.

Laura worked with brilliant co-curator Chris Massey to build a bespoke programme around the DJs, musicians, artists and creative organisations already doing ace events and music in Stockport, rather than dropping in headline names from somewhere else.

The result is WEIR:LIVE: two stages, a family rave, choir, DJs, food and a programme that moves from lunchtime right through to 10pm.

The line-up brings together A Certain Ratio, The Playhouse Project, Muddy Feet, NAM, Bobby Thorpe, Pangolin, Ste Macca, Annie Fay, PopVox Choir and a Before I Die takeover, with every artist and creative on the bill connected to Stockport.

Laura's role spans creative development, curation, artist booking and liaison, programming, production, suppliers, schedules and the many moving parts involved in turning an idea into a live event.

And the location is pretty special…

WEIR:LIVE takes over the new public spaces beneath the Grade II-listed mill and Stockport's viaduct, somewhere specifically designed to become a new home for gigs, markets, parties and pop-ups.

Free. All local. All day. Very Stockport.

WEIR:LIVE takes place on Saturday 3 October 2026, 11.30am–10pm, with donations on the day supporting the Greater Manchester Mayor's Charity.
